Toni Grande hails Ander Iturraspe

Spain assistant manager Toni Grande insists that Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Iturraspe deserves a spot in La Roja's provisional squad for the World Cup.

Spain assistant manager Toni Grande has praised Ander Iturraspe after the Athletic Bilbao midfielder was named in La Roja's provisional squad for the World Cup this summer.

The 25-year-old, who has been with Bilbao since 2004, was the surprise name in the list when Vicente del Bosque released his squad this morning.

However, Grande has insisted that the midfielder deserves his spot after enjoying "a very good season with a very good team".

"He's had a very good season with a very good team, so that's why he's there," Grande told reporters during a book launch in Madrid.

Iturraspe stepped into the Bilbao first team in 2008.
