Sporting Kansas City eased to a routine victory over the Western Conference's bottom side the Colorado Rapids.
Marcel De Jong went close for Kansas inside the first five minutes with an effort which was deflected wide for a corner, before Chance Myers volleyed over from inside the area.
Colorado also created early chances as Marcelo Sarvas's audacious chip almost lobbed Tim Meila from outside the box, while Lucas Pittinari went close with a deflected drive which flashed inches wide.
However, the home side took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark as Myers set up Krisztian Nemeth to slide in his seventh of the season.
Lucas Soli almost equalised for the Rapids after the break with a powerful low effort which beat the keeper but landed the wrong side of the post.
Kansas doubled their lead shortly afterwards when Benny Felihaber darted down the wing, and his cross was touched into his own net by Sam Cronin.
That deflated Colorado, who didn't threaten to mount a comeback.
