Sporting KC 0-2 Montreal

Montreal Impact stun Sporting Kansas City on their home patch.

Sporting Kansas City have lost ground in the MLS Eastern Conference after slipping to a shock 2-0 home defeat to Montreal Impact.

Felipe Martins Campanholi struck the first goal of the game after 30 minutes to put the visitors in the lead.

Kansas squandered numerous opportunities in the second period and were made to pay when Impact won a penalty on a rare foray forward.

Aurelien Collin was adjudged to have fouled Lamar Neagle inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot.

Patrice Bernier stepped up to take the kick and duly dispatched it past Jimmy Nielsen and into the top left corner.

Both Collin and Julio Santos Correa were unable to find the target as the game reached its conclusion and Montreal managed to hang on for victory.
