Sporting Lisbon are demanding a rematch against Schalke 04 after losing a Champions League group match to the Germans 4-3 due to a controversial penalty in stoppage time.
Referee Sergei Kasarev penalised Jonathan Silva for handballing in the area, but video replays later showed that the defender used his head to make the clearance.
Schalke have released a statement confirming that Sporting have approached them and formally requested a replay or that the match be marked down as a draw.
UEFA have also contacted the club and asked for their stance on the matter.
"Sporting have demanded the match be played again or receive the bonus for a draw," Schalke said in a statement.
"Schalke 04 have been asked by Europe's governing body UEFA for their position on the matter and will submit this shortly while taking into consideration the protection of the club's own interests."
Sporting came from two goals down to level the match at 3-3, but Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's last-ditch penalty denied them a point.
