Defoe "disappointed" by England snub

Jermain Defoe has expressed his disappointment at not being named in the England squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro on Friday evening.

The 28-year-old, who has scored two league goals this season, believed that he had done enough to receive the call-up from Fabio Capello.

However, the Italian boss has opted to select Manchester United's Danny Welbeck and Fulham's Bobby Zamora in his place.

"I am obviously very disappointed," said Defoe.

"I feel I have not let Mr Capello down when I have played, but I will work hard to get my place back."

Defoe made his England debut in 2004 and has gone on to score 15 goals.
