Half-Time Report: Harry Kane gives Tottenham Hotspur slender lead over Swansea City

Tottenham Hotspur lead Swansea City 1-0 at half time at the Liberty Stadium courtesy of Harry Kane's header inside four minutes.

An early Harry Kane goal has given Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 lead over Swansea City at half time of their Premier League meeting this evening.

The visitors made a dream start to the contest, going ahead inside the opening four minutes when Kane headed beyond Gerhard Tremmel from a corner, following some slack defending from the Swans.

Wilfried Bony forced Hugo Lloris into making a save down low shortly after as the Welsh outfit looked to level things up, while the Ivorian again caused problems for the Spurs backline when he was slipped in by Jefferson Montero.

However, he was denied a shot on goal from close range by a crucial sliding challenge from Ben Davies - who was making his first appearance at the Liberty Stadium since leaving the club in the summer - as the London side withstood the pressure.

Tottenham also had further openings to add to their advantage, with a buoyant Kane flashing an effort narrowly wide from long range, but Mauricio Pochettino's charges continued to leave themselves wide open at the back.

Having previously been denied by a combination of point-blank Lloris saves and the assistant referee's flag, Bony saw a big chance come and go shortly before the interval when his first-time shot inside the area was blocked by Federico Fazio.
