Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou confirms that striker Dominic Solanke will miss the next six weeks of action, after twisting his knee in training.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that striker Dominic Solanke will be out for the next six weeks with a knee injury.

Solanke missed the 3-2 defeat at Everton last weekend, adding to Spurs' eye-wateringly lengthy injury list, that remains in double figures.

The 27-year-old twisted his knee in training on the eve of the trip to Goodison Park, and did not travel with the squad, as the issue was assessed by the club's medical team.

Solanke was also not with the squad in Sinsheim tonight, as Spurs beat Hoffenheim 3-2 in the Europa League in central Germany.

In the aftermath of that 3-2 win, Postecoglou provided an update on their summer signing, who has scored 11 goals in all competitions this season.

The news was not good either, as the Spurs boss revealed: "With Dom, the information now is around the six week mark with him.

"No surgery [is required], but we're looking at around six weeks. It might be quicker but we'll see."
Postecoglou also spoke about how innocuous the injury was, summing up how misfortunate the club has been in that department this season.

"It was just one of those things. It wasn't like it was even a challenge, it was just him trying to shoot and twisting his knee.

"It's just one of those things that, unfortunately, we're going through at the moment." Postecoglou concluded.

How will Spurs deal with Solanke's absence?

A six-week absence could see Solanke miss around five or six Premier League games, as well as the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Every cloud has a silver lining though, and for Spurs fans, the return of Richarlison from injury has been perfectly timed.

The Brazilian international has missed the majority of the season so far, but returned in the North London derby just over a week ago, and scored away to his former club Everton on Sunday.

Richarlison was handed just a second start of the season against Hoffenheim, and could well be the central option going forward over the next few weeks.

Captain Son Heung-min also has plenty of experience in playing through the middle too, and after two goals on the continent, the South Korean will be brimming with confidence again, after a quiet afternoon at Goodison Park.

Spurs will welcome Leicester City to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday, seeking to move away from their perilous position down in 15th.
