A goal from Christian Eriksen has given Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 lead over Sheffield United in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final this evening.
It has put Spurs in a commanding position and they now lead 2-0 on aggregate following their first-leg victory last week.
The hosts came close to breaking the deadlock early on when Michel Vorm spilled a cross into the path of Jamie Murphy, who then saw his effort cleared off the line by Kyle Walker.
Spurs soon threatened down the other of the end of the pitch and after working some room on the edge of the box, Harry Kane drilled an effort into Mark Howard's arms.
Ryan Mason was next to test Howard with a fierce attempt from range, but the keeper ended up making a comfortable save.
The visitors began to take command of the tie and Kane drilled a strike against the outside of the post from a tight angle.
Spurs finally made their dominance count just before the half-hour mark, as Eriksen curled a free kick into the top corner and beyond the stranded Howard.
Kane saw another strike blocked at the near post by the keeper, before Marc McNulty drilled wide for the hosts, as Spurs held on to their two-goal advantage in the tie going into the break.
