Emmanuel Adebayor: 'No grudges with Andre Villas-Boas'

Tottenham Hotspur forward Emmanuel Adebayor says that he has no resentment toward Andre Villas-Boas for denying him first-team opportunities this season.

Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that he harbours no resentment toward former Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas for denying him first-team opportunities this season.

The Togolese striker had made just one Premier League appearance prior to Villas-Boas's departure last month - a cameo in the 6-0 defeat to Manchester City in November.

However, the 30-year-old has enjoyed a new lease of life under the stewardship of Tim Sherwood, scoring four in seven games including one in the 2-1 victory away to Manchester United earlier this month.

Nevertheless, Adebayor insists that he holds no grudges with the Portuguese, whom he regards as a "great man" who acted in the best interest of the team.

"I'm not here to judge anyone - he's a great manager," he told Sky Sports News. "I just have to keep going, look forward and play my football.

"Everything happens for a reason - maybe he thought I was no good any more, maybe he thought I looked sluggish in training, a bit tired - you cannot judge him, he tried his best for his team.

"For me I think he has tried his best, if it doesn't work his way, that's football. So hopefully the next one for him, will be a good one from him, I wish him the best of luck because he's a great man."

The North London outfit travel to Wales for a clash with Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.
