Adebayor wage demands could halt Spurs switch

Emmanuel Adebayor's proposed permanent switch to Tottenham Hotspur could be halted by the player's wage demands.

The Daily Mail claims that the Togolese striker is seeking more than the £100,000-per-week that Spurs are prepared to offer to bring him to White Hart Lane long-term.

Adebayor was reportedly offered a string of performance-related bonuses and a £4m signing-on fee in addition to the basic salary.

However, the player is earning £170,000 per week on his Manchester City contract, which has two years remaining on it.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may pursue other options in the club's search for a forward. Marseille's Loic Remy and Villareal's Giuseppe Rossi are among those linked with the Premier League outfit.

Adebayor joined Spurs on loan from City last year, scoring 11 goals in 25 appearances.
