Franco Baldini Tottenham Hotspur future in doubt?

Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly part company with Franco Baldini this summer if they change their transfer policy.

Tottenham Hotspur technical director Franco Baldini's future has been cast into doubt after reports suggested that the club were keen to focus on Premier League-based players.

Having spent in excess of £100m on overseas talent last summer, for which Baldini was largely responsible, Tottenham have struggled to keep pace with the top teams in England, which led to the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas as manager in Decemeber.

However, The People claims that chairman Daniel Levy is looking for a change of approach in the transfer market and that could lead the Italian to depart White Hart Lane, with former Spurs scout Ian Broomfield returning to the club from Queens Park Rangers.

It is thought that the change in policy may increase the chances of Tim Sherwood retaining his job as manager, but not if Levy secures the services of Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal, who is reportedly the number one target for the position.

Tottenham are also rumoured to be eyeing moves for Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku and Aston Villa's Christian Benteke.

Spurs travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Sunday, looking to keep the hopes of Champions League qualification alive.
