Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has revealed that he was "emotional" after he scored against former club Southampton in Sunday's 2-1 win at St Mary's.
The Welshman, who left the Saints in 2007, opened the scoring for Spurs to help them earn the three points and move up to fourth in the table.
"I was emotional scoring but the main thing was coming here and doing a job," Bale told reporters.
"I'd been here since I was nine years old and it was nice to score but my celebrations were muted out of respect."
Bale's strike against his previous employers was his third goal of the season.
