Queens Park Rangers striker Jay Bothroyd has welcomed the idea of Tottenham Hotspur frontman Jermain Defoe moving to Loftus Road.
The England international is believed to be of interest to the West London side, who are thought to be considering a January bid for the 29-year-old.
"There's been talk of Jermain Defoe," talkSPORT quotes Bothroyd as saying. "He's a world-class striker and a proven goalscorer in the Premiership. He'd be welcome.
"I played with him when I was younger, at under-15 level, and he's a different sort of player to me. Of course I'd like to link up with him but it's hypothetical at the moment.
"I haven't spoken to him about coming here yet. But I'll leave that to the manager - he's pretty good at persuading people."
Defoe is out of favour at White Hart Lane after the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City on loan.
