John Carver has backed a settled defence to snuff out the threat of the "outstanding" Harry Kane when Newcastle United take on Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.
Fabricio Coloccini will return to the side for the visit of Spurs, and Carver believes that a more familiar looking back-line will deal with the 29-goal Kane at St James' Park.
"Kane has been outstanding and he deserves the right to get into the England team," Carver told reporters. "But the good news for us is we've got what looks more like a settled back four now.
"Daryl Janmaat will go into right-back for us and Coloccini [is back] and hopefully they can stem [Kane's] flow."
Carver's side are currently 14th in the Premier League table, having suffered five successive defeats.
