Joe Hart has praised Scott Parker for the way in which he captained England for the first time on Wednesday against Holland.
England interim manager Stuart Pearce selected Parker to captain the side during the 3-2 loss at Wembley and Hart has heaped praise on the way the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder handled the responsibility.
"Scott Parker was great as captain," the Manchester City goalkeeper said.
"This thing about having someone to gee the team up in the dressing room before the game is a myth. The captain doesn't need to go around shouting in people's faces. We're all good players and we know what we're doing.
"We were proud to play behind him on Wednesday."
Hart was considered a candidate for the captaincy before Parker was confirmed by Pearce.
