Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has urged Harry Kane to represent England Under-21s this summer, despite his recent emergence as a senior player.
Kane was handed his first call-up by Roy Hodgson last week, and the Tottenham Hotspur forward is expected to start against Lithuania on Friday.
However, despite a move to the senior side, Hart thinks that going to the European Championships this summer will be beneficial to Kane's continued development at White Hart Lane.
"I can only speak from my personal experiences and I really enjoyed the two tournaments that I went to," Hart told reporters. "It's a little bit different for me because I wasn't knocking on the first team's door but it never even crossed my mind that I wouldn't be involved [for the Under-21s].
"I can't speak for Harry, but I'd imagine that he'd be very excited to represent his country in the summer. There's so much to gain from playing in the tournament and I got sheer enjoyment from it.
"We've all see the blueprint for [world champions] Germany and we can't look past that."
Kane has scored 29 goals in all competitions this term.
