Erik Lamela: 'Tottenham Hotspur didn't deserve to lose to Manchester City'

Spurs midfielder Erik Lamela claims that he and his teammates did not deserve their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Erik Lamela has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur did not deserve to lose to Manchester City on Sunday.

Spurs were beaten 1-0 at White Hart Lane as Sergio Aguero's goal proved to be the difference between the sides.

Having seen their top-four hopes suffer a damaging blow, Lamela believes that Tottenham should have taken at least a point off City following a positive performance.

"We wanted to play good football and we tried to put on a good performance for our fans," he told the club's official website. "We didn't deserve to lose but we have to put it behind us and look at the games we have left. It was one of those days - it's football and this can happen sometimes."

Tottenham are back in Premier League action this weekend when they travel to Stoke City.
