Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that he believed Benoit Assou-Ekotto should have been sent off for a challenge on Franco Di Santo on Tuesday.
The tackle during the 3-1 defeat for Wigan left Di Santo with a large cut on his leg, but referee Lee Probert chose to not award even a free kick.
On Wednesday the FA opteded not to take action against Assou-Ekotto, a decision with which Martinez disagreed.
The Spaniard said: "It was a red card, a really, really high challenge.
"It was a real shock to see that because we were very fortunate Franco escaped with a minor injury. I have seen broken legs from less."
Wigan are currently bottom of the Premier League.
