Mauricio Pochettino: 'Harry Kane is not fit enough'

Harry Kane was "tired" against Stoke City today, according to Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Harry Kane is not yet fully fit after the summer break.

The England international was taken off after 65 minutes in Spurs' game with Stoke City, with the North London side leading 2-0.

However, the Potters fought back and secured a 2-2 draw, leading to questions regarding Kane's fitness.

Pochettino told Sky Sports News: "He was tired. He came later in pre-season and it is normal. He is better but he needs time to arrive. We knew before the end of last season Harry Kane would play a lot and the consequences you can see now.

"Every game is different, today my feeling was he was tired. This is the truth, at 2-0, after 65 minutes, I think it was enough for him. We don't take risks with his body."

Kane played for England Under-21's at the European Championships this summer, and was given a longer summer break.
