Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly fearful that head coach Mauricio Pochettino will leave the club to take charge of Real Madrid at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
Pochettino has long been linked with the Manchester United job and that interest intensified when Jose Mourinho was relieved of his duties in December.
Interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now the favourite to take charge of the Red Devils on a permanent basis, however, due to his incredible work at Old Trafford.
Pochettino has also been strongly linked with a move to the Bernabeu, though, with Santiago Solari's future as head coach of the European champions not secure.
According to The Sun, Los Blancos are prepared to pay up to £40m in compensation to land Pochettino, who has seen his team lose their last two Premier League matches to Burnley and Chelsea.
Pochettino only signed a new five-year contract with Spurs last summer but could now look to take the next step in his managerial career.
