Harry Redknapp escapes UEFA charges relating to an alleged offensive gesture to Shamrock Rovers' fans.

Harry Redknapp has escaped a potential charge from UEFA after allegedly making an offensive gesture to Shamrock Rovers fans during Thursday's Europa League tie.

Redknapp, 64, was the subject of a number of chants during the game, which Tottenham won 4-0, and appeared to confront a small group of home fans after the final whistle.

However, there was no mention of the incident in the official match report and Redknapp was quick to play it down.

"Did I make an 'obscene' gesture? No, I didn't make... No. I didn't do anything to [the fans]. I am not allowed to repeat what they were saying to me.

"I have spent enough time in Ireland to know what lovely people they are.

"If you go and meet them afterwards they are probably lovely people. But they get together and shout a load of nonsense and that is football. That's life. I don't hold any grudges."

Despite the heavy win, it wasn't enough to keep Spurs in the Europa League after PAOK Salonika and Rubin Kazan drew.
