Chris Samba admits that things have not progressed in the way that he was informed by Blackburn and is "resigned" to leaving the club.

Blackburn Rovers captain Chris Samba has admitted that he wants to leave the club, stating that it is "time for a change".

The defender, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur or Queens Park Rangers, has revealed that he is "resigned" to leaving the struggling Premier League side.

"Lately, mentally it has been difficult," Samba told L'Equipe. "I try to maintain my level of performance but I sense that it is time for a change as the club doesn't evolve at all.

"I'm resigned. I've always put the interest of the club before my own. I've invested a lot, always tried to lead by example but things have not gone as I was told. I hope people understand me."

The 27-year-old, who recently signed a new five-year deal at Ewood Park, could be the first player to depart the Lancashire side, with Junior Hoilett being widely tipped to also exit the club this month.
