Tim Sherwood: 'Goal could help Nacer Chadli'

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Tim Sherwood hopes that Nacer Chadli's goal against Newcastle United on Wednesday will see him improve during the second half of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Tim Sherwood has insisted that Nacer Chadli deserves time to settle at the club after his move in the summer.

Chadli has struggled to establish himself at White Hart Lane, but after netting a 25-yard strike against Newcastle United on Wednesday, Sherwood believes that the club's supporters could begin to see the best of the Belgian international.

The 45-year-old told the club's official website: "We all know what Nacer can do. It's all about a settling-in period. I played myself, so I know what it's like to settle at a new club, let alone in a new country.

"We know that he possesses that ability, he wouldn't play for the Belgian national team if he didn't. We see him do it every day in training. Hopefully that will give him a massive lift."

Tottenham return to action next Thursday when they travel to Ukraine to face FC Dnipro in the Europa League.
