Six-game ban for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Dembele

Mousa Dembele is banned for six games by the Football Association for an apparent eye gouge on Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has been banned for six games by the Football Association after an incident against Chelsea on Monday night.

The 28-year-old appeared to claw at the eye of Blues frontman Diego Costa as tempers flared in the Premier League London derby at Stamford Bridge.

Dembele accepted the FA's charge of violent conduct earlier today but argued that any further punishment than the normal three-match ban was required.

However, an independent regulatory commission has upheld the FA's claim and added three more matches to the Belgian's suspension.

Dembele will now miss Spurs' final two matches of the Premier League season and their first four domestic games of the 2016-17 season.
