Roberto Soldado: 'Physical challenge is good for me'

Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado insists that he is looking forward to experiencing the physical challenge of the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado has insisted that he is aware he must be physically fit to succeed in the Premier League.

Soldado left Valencia to join Spurs for £26m during the summer, but the Spanish international has revealed that he is looking forward to adapting his style of play in England.

The 28-year-old told AFPTV: "I think that the most important thing is to be in shape.

"The intensity of the Premier League, it's very different from La Liga and here football is a lot more physical and a lot more difficult.

"But I think that's good because it gives a lot of rhythm to the game and I think that can be good for me."

Soldado is expected to start for Spurs in their opening Premier League fixture at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
