Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering whether to make an approach for former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly giving consideration to trying to appoint Zinedine Zidane as their next manager.

On the back of his comments regarding his Spurs squad after the 3-3 draw at Southampton, Antonio Conte departed the club on Sunday evening.

Cristian Stellini has been placed in temporary charge, assisted by Ryan Mason, and the pair will look to help Spurs finish in the top four of the Premier League standings.

However, off the pitch, the powers-that-be must consider a long-term replacement for Conte, the feeling being that they must appoint a high-profile name to boost their chances of keeping Harry Kane.

Recently-sacked Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with a switch to North London, while Spurs will be associated with former manager Mauricio Pochettino until a decision is made.

Nevertheless, according to Sky Italia, Zidane has been placed on the shortlist of potential options for the vacant position.

The legendary Frenchman has spent his entire managerial career at Real Madrid, first leading the Castilla side before enjoying substantial success with the senior team.

Zidane has lifted two La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns with Los Blancos, making him a natural option when any high-profile club is looking for a leading figure in the dugout.

That said, it remains to be seen whether Zidane will consider a switch to the Premier League or another top European club in the future.

Zidane appeared in line to become the next France manager after the World Cup before Didier Deschamps was handed a contract extension until 2026.

With that no longer an option for the foreseeable future, the 50-year-old must contemplate alternatives if he wishes to return to the dugout.

Zidane, who has previously hinted that his English is not up to the required standard to manage a Premier League team, is unlikely to consider a switch to Spurs unless they secure Champions League football for 2023-24.

Paris Saint-Germain also remain an obvious option if they part ways with Christopher Galtier, providing that Marseille-born Zidane is prepared to ignore the rivalry between the clubs.
