Tottenham Hotspur may reportedly struggle to convince Thomas Tuchel to replace Antonio Conte as the club's head coach.

Tottenham Hotspur may reportedly struggle to convince Thomas Tuchel to become the club's next head coach.

While Antonio Conte is the current incumbent, speculation persists that it is a foregone conclusion that the Italian will depart the role in the summer.

Over the past week, Spurs have been eliminated from the FA Cup and Champions League by Sheffield United and AC Milan respectively, ending the club's hopes of securing silverware during 2022-23.

Although Spurs still sit in fourth place in the Premier League standings, they are coming under fierce pressure from the chasing pack and are far from guaranteed to qualify for European football's premier competition.

As it stands, Conte is due to remain in the dugout until the end of his contract, but failure to instigate an improvement in results in the short term could theoretically lead to a mutual parting of the ways.

Spurs have frequently been linked with a reunion with former boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has previously led the club to a Champions League final, and the Argentine may be open to a return to North London.

However, according to The Sun, chairman Daniel Levy is also interested in securing the services of former Chelsea head coach Tuchel.

The 49-year-old has been out of work since leaving Stamford Bridge in September, and the German is known to be open to another stint in English football.

Nevertheless, the report suggests that Tuchel may be prepared to wait for a bigger club, rather than one which is seemingly not in a position to challenge for silverware on a regular basis.

That is allegedly despite Tuchel having been an admirer of Spurs in the past, with it unclear whether his allegiances and love for Chelsea would impact any move to a city rival.

Since his exit from Chelsea, it has been claimed that Tuchel is prepared to wait to see if an opportunity could arise at Real Madrid or Barcelona.

More recently, former club PSG are said to be open to a reunion with Tuchel as they contemplate whether to sack Christophe Galtier after their Champions League exit at the last-16 stage.

Other names to be linked with a potential switch to Spurs include Brentford head coach Thomas Frank and Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper.
