Tottenham Hotspur release a statement after their managing director Fabio Paratici has his 30-month ban extended worldwide.

Tottenham Hotspur have issued a response after managing director Fabio Paratici had his 30-month ban extended worldwide.

Paratici was banned for 30 months for his role in the alleged financial mismanagement at his former club Juventus.

The ban was initially applicable to Italian football, but FIFA released a statement on Wednesday to confirm that the sanction has been extended.

FIFA said: "FIFA can confirm that following a request by the Italian FA (FIGC), the chairperson of FIFA disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect."

On Tuesday, Tottenham released a video in which Paratici updated supporters on the club's search for a successor to Antonio Conte, who recently left the club by mutual consent.

Spurs have now released a statement of their own where they state that they were given no prior notice by FIFA about the change in Paratici's suspension.

Tottenham's statement read: "FIFA can confirm that following a request by the Italian FA (FIGC), the chairperson of FIFA disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect.

"FIFA has late this afternoon responded to us in writing notifying us today, Wednesday 29 March 2023, that a decision has been made by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee to extend the FIGC sanction worldwide.

"This committee deliberation has been taken with no advance notice to any of the parties involved. We are urgently seeking further clarification from FIFA as to the details of the extension and its variance from the FIGC sanction.

"We should like to make clear that when Fabio conducted the interview on club channels yesterday neither he nor the club had any indication of this decision being made by FIFA, based on the fact the FIGC sanction was taken on 20 January 2023 and remains subject to an Appeal on 19 April 2023."

The latest development will only add to the uncertainty surrounding the North London club ahead of the Premier League run-in.

Conte's former assistant Cristian Stellini has been placed in temporary charge alongside assistant head coach Ryan Mason.

The pair are currently preparing the side for Monday's Premier League meeting with Everton at Goodison Park.

Tottenham are sitting in fourth position in the Premier League table, but they are only two points better off than fifth-placed Newcastle United, who have two games in hand.
