Crystal Palace attacker Andros Townsend has branded Tottenham Hotspur's Danny Rose "the best left-back in the country".
Townsend came through the youth ranks at Spurs with Rose, and the 25-year-old has called on England boss Sam Allardyce to place his long-term faith in the midfielder-turned-defender.
"To be honest, the player I like playing against the most is Danny Rose. He's probably the best left-back in the country in my eyes. In training at Spurs we used to go at it in the sessions and we'd kick each other a lot so I do enjoy playing against him," said Townsend during a FIFA 17 event in London.
Rose has been named in the England squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on September 4, but Manchester United's Luke Shaw is expected to be given the nod at left-back after returning to fitness.
