Robert Snodgrass goal secures home win for Norwich City

Robert Snodgrass's goal early in the second half is enough for Norwich City to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Norwich City have beaten Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Carrow Road in a hard-fought Premier League encounter.

The first chance was for Ricky van Wolfswinkel. Spurs failed to clear their lines, but the Dutch striker couldn't connect on two occasions with a bouncing ball in the six-yard box.

After that, it became a midfield battle, with neither team willing to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Paulinho did curl a shot wide for the visitors, while Leroy Fer almost connected with a Martin Olsson cross. However, chances were few and far between in a disappointing first half.

The second half was just 83 seconds old when Norwich broke the deadlock. Robert Snodgrass won the ball on the right and gave it to Bradley Johnson, who immediately played it back to his teammate.

With Michael Dawson playing him onside, Snodgrass placed the ball into the far corner past the dive of Hugo Lloris.

John Ruddy denied Emmanuel Adebayor and Lloris kept out a Snodgrass effort, as the game started to open up.

Roberto Soldado was introduced for the away side as they pushed for an equaliser, but the striker fired wide when well placed and glanced a header past the post.

Spurs' best chance of the contest and their first shot on target came nine minutes from the end as Ruddy kept out Mousa Dembele's powerful shot.

Johnson's thunderous free kick cannoned off the bar, before Alexander Tettey fluffed his back-heel attempt with Lloris out of his goal.
