Monday's Tottenham Hotspur transfer talk news roundup: Davinson Sanchez, Joe Gomez, Gedson Fernandes

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Tottenham on Monday, November 16.

The summer transfer window has now closed, with Tottenham Hotspur having enjoyed one of their busiest and most exciting windows to date.

Gareth Bale made his return to the club on loan from Real Madrid, while Spurs also spent big on the likes of Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty in addition to loaning Carlos Vinicius. Attention will now switch to the January window as Jose Mourinho continues to mould his squad.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Monday morning's Tottenham Hotspur transfer talk news roundup:

Liverpool 'make contact with Davinson Sanchez'

Liverpool have allegedly contacted the representatives of Tottenham Hotspur's Davinson Sanchez to express an interest in signing the central defender.

The Premier League champions have lost both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-term knee injuries, meaning that a new centre-back is expected to arrive at Anfield during the January transfer window.

A recent report claimed that the Reds had identified RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano as their leading target, but the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United are also said to be in the hunt for the Frenchman.

According to reports in Spain, Liverpool are also keen on Sanchez and have already made contact with the Colombia international to register their interest.

The 24-year-old has made 126 appearances for Spurs since arriving from Ajax in 2017 but has largely struggled to hold down a starting role on a consistent basis.

The South American, who has a contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until June 2024, has not even made the squad for his team's last three Premier League matches.

Jose Mourinho's side are thought to value the defender in the region of €60m (£54m).

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho open to early Gedson Fernandes exit

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that Gedson Fernandes could see his ill-fated stint in North London come to an early end.

The 21-year-old is on loan with the Lilywhites from Benfica until next summer but has barely taken to the pitch under Mourinho, with Fernandes still waiting for his first taste of Premier League action this season.

Amid the midfielder's lack of game time, Mourinho has insisted that Fernandes is welcome at Spurs, but he would understand and support the Portugal international if he decided to head back home.

Speaking to SportTV, Mourinho said: "For me it is never a problem, but a solution. Having him in the squad, even if he is not called up and not playing, is an extremely comfortable situation.

"I will never be the one to push him or say that I don't want him here. But I understand the situation of the kid and Benfica.

"If the club wants to end the relationship here, we will be here to collaborate, because we want the good of the player. Benfica has the power to decide and will be accepted by us."

Fernandes arrived in the English capital in January of this year but has only pulled on the Tottenham shirt 13 times in all competitions.
