Tottenham Hotspur compensate for the absence of Gareth Bale by naming Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe in the side to face Everton.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has opted to go with an attacking side for today's trip to Goodison Park.

Emanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe both start, with Clint Dempsey, Mousa Dembele and Aaron Lennon providing midfield support.

Hugo Lloris returns in goal while Jan Vertonghen continues at left-back. As expected Gareth Bale is not fit enough to be named in the 18-man squad.

Everton boss David Moyes opts to bring in Seamus Coleman at full-back but sticks with Nikica Jelavic in attack.

Darron Gibson and Leon Osman also continue in central midfield.

Everton: Howard, Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Osman, Pienaar, Gibson, Fellaini, Mirallas, Jelavic

Tottenham: Lloris, Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen, Lennon, Sandro, Dembele, Dempsey, Adebayor, Defoe
