Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Davinson Sanchez reportedly does not want to leave the club this month amid interest from Nice.

The Colombia international has fallen down the Lilywhites' pecking order under Antonio Conte and has been restricted to fleeting appearances in the 2022-23 campaign.

Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Cristian Romero and Clement Lenglet are all ahead of Sanchez in the pecking order, while Japhet Tanganga is also competing for minutes at the back.

Having been forced to accept a bit-part role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this term, Sanchez is being tipped to leave the club before Tuesday's January transfer deadline.

Ligue 1 side Nice have supposedly identified the former Ajax man as an ideal acquisition in the backline, and he is only under contract at Tottenham until the summer of 2024.

As a result, Tottenham could be pressured into selling Sanchez in January or the summer, and he is unlikely to be handed a contract extension at the club amid his lack of game time.

However, the Daily Mail claims that the 26-year-old has no intention of departing before the January window shuts, as he is keen to stay and fight for his place in Conte's squad.

Sanchez has made just 15 appearances for Tottenham throughout the 2022-23 season, and he wore the captain's armband for Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round win over Preston North End.

The South American has only started six Premier League games for the Lilywhites this term, though, as well as featuring just once in the Champions League as a late substitute against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Sanchez has been left on the bench for Spurs' last five Premier League fixtures, and he has not seen the field in the top flight since their Boxing Day draw with Brentford.

Tottenham forked out €42m (£36.9m) to bring Sanchez to North London from Ajax in 2017, and the defender's total for the club now stands at five goals and one assist from 195 matches.

Conte's side have not sanctioned any permanent departures this month, and they have only made the one January signing so far in the form of Arnaut Danjuma.

The Dutch attacker has arrived on loan from Villarreal for the remainder of the season and scored off the bench on his debut in Saturday's FA Cup win over Preston at Deepdale.

Tottenham are understood to be closing in on the signing of Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro, who is expected to undergo his medical on Monday ahead of a €45m (£39.5m) move.

The Lilywhites have a full week to recover from their FA Cup exploits before they host Manchester City in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday.
