Jermain Defoe has signed a new three-year contract at Tottenham Hotspur to end rumours that he could leave during this transfer window.
Despite Andre Villas-Boas's lack of attacking options, with Defoe currently just one of two recognised strikers in the Spurs squad, the England international has constantly been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.
Queens Park Rangers, Aston Villa and Reading had all been linked with the 29-year-old, who has started the season with goals for both club and country.
However, he has now muted such speculation by penning an extended deal that will keep him at Spurs until 2015.
Defoe said on Twitter: "Fantastic week signed my new contract at Spurs & meeting up with England on Monday for 2 important games #goalsgoalsgoals."
Defoe scored 17 goals in 38 appearances for the Lillywhites last season.
