Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes admits that his future is away from Tottenham Hotspur.

Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has revealed that he is keen to leave Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window.

The Brazilian has fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane, having slipped behind Brad Friedel in the pecking order.

The 30-year-old has claimed that he must secure a transfer away from Spurs for the sake of his international career.

"It is very hard to keep driving yourself on when you are not in the team," he told The People. "I think they signed Friedel to be number two because the people around the club said that was the case. So I was relaxed about the situation.

"I thought I'd be playing the first game against Manchester United but it didn't happen. That's why I'm frustrated now. I thought I would remain as the number one this season.

"I need to think about a new club because I want to play for Brazil again."

Gomes hopes that a switch will materialise next month and has confessed that he would prefer to remain in England.

"I would like to stay in the Premier League," he added. "My wife and kids love it here in England and I think I can earn other teams points in the same way I have for Tottenham."

Gomes signed for Spurs in 2008 from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.
