Mauricio Pochettino not intent on January additions

Mauricio Pochettino insists that he is happy with his current Tottenham squad and would rather promote from the club's academy than dip into the January transfer market.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated that he is happy to promote from within rather than dip into the January transfer market.

Spurs have been linked with moves for Saido Berahino, Fabian Delph and Emmanuel Emenike this month should they wish to strengthen their top-four bid.

However, Pochettino is "happy" with the current squad at his disposal and feels that there is more talent to be unearthed from the club's academy should his squad get stretched as they play in four competitions.

"We have a strong squad and I am happy with the squad," he told reporters after his team's 2-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday.

"And we have young talent in the academy if we need them, like we did in the Europa League."

Pochettino has given White Hart Lane academy graduates such as Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb important roles in his debut season at Spurs.

Teenage midfielder Joshua Onomah also made his debut in the FA Cup third-round replay win over Burnley in midweek.
