Tottenham Hotspur's director of football Franco Baldini has reportedly identified Fabian Schar as the ideal player to bolster the club's defence.
Following Spurs's failed pursuit of Villarreal's Mateo Musacchio, Baldini is thought to have been charged with the task of finding alternative options.
One of those is Schar, whom he went to watch in action for Basel last weekend, according to The Mirror.
The report added that Baldini was impressed by the Switzerland international's performance and he will now try to convince chairman Daniel Levy to bid for the 22-year-old.
The centre-back joined his current employers from FC Wil 1900 in 2012.
