Tottenham Hotspur have targeted Basel's Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah, according to the player's agent.
The 21-year-old was a thorn in the North Londoners' side during their Europa League quarter-final tussle last year, and has starred in both of the Swiss team's victories over Chelsea this season.
According to the Daily Star, Spurs sporting director Franco Baldini was present to watch him score the winner against the Blues on Tuesday, and is now planning to launch a bid.
"We know of Tottenham's interest, but as yet there has been no contact," said Sascha Empacher, managing director of SPOCS sports consultants. "Of course, Mohamed's dream is to play for one of the top teams.
"He can do that in England, but also Germany and Spain.
"Basel is one of the best teams you can find to develop young players and for the moment Mohamed is concentrating on getting through to the knockout stage of the Champions League by getting a result at Schalke."
Salah, who has scored 17 goals in 26 appearances for his country, is said to be valued at around £20m.
