Tottenham Hotspur allegedly feel that they can negotiate a deal for Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale on deadline day.

Tottenham Hotspur have allegedly not given up hope of concluding a deal with Real Madrid for Gareth Bale.

Earlier in the January transfer window, agent Jonathan Barnett reiterated that the 30-year-old is not prepared to consider a loan move to another club, while also insisting that the forward was happy with life in Spain.

However, according to The Times, Spurs remain interested in attempting to do a deal with Real, who want Bale off their wage bill as soon as possible.

The report claims that chairman Daniel Levy has travelled to Madrid to open negotiations with Real counterpart Florentino Perez.

If a deal is to materialise, it is suggested that compromises will have to be made on both sides, especially regarding Bale's income.

Bale, who has previously represented Spurs, has contributed two goals and two assists from 14 outings in all competitions this season.
