Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly identified Jonathan Calleri as the ideal player to bolster his current attacking options.
It is widely expected that Spurs will swoop for at least one striker in the summer to lessen the burden on Harry Kane, who is the only senior frontman on the books at White Hart Lane.
According to The People, following an extensive search Pochettino has told chairman Daniel Levy to open up negotiations with Calleri's representatives.
The 22-year-old, who is owned by an investment group, is presently on loan at Brazilian side Sao Paulo.
He is yet to represent Argentina at senior international level, but a work permit should not prove to be a stumbling block because Calleri's grandparents are Italian.
