Jan Vertonghen hopeful of Hugo Lloris stay

Jan Vertonghen says that he hopes Tottenham Hotspur can keep hold of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has said that the club must do everything they can in order to keep hold of Hugo Lloris.

The Frenchman is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, but he has recently been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

"He's a great guy, great captain, great goalkeeper and a brilliant player for us. He's the captain, very important and this season he was one of our best players," Vertonghen told Sky Sports News.

"He's been outstanding for us and if you want to continue growing as a club you have to keep your best players and Hugo is one of them.

"I hope Tottenham can keep him. It will be a sign for everyone next year that we want to compete in the Premier League."

Lloris has spent the past three seasons at Spurs, having joined the club in August 2012 from Lyon.
