Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock: 'I tried to sign Tottenham's Harry Kane'

Warnock: 'I tried to sign Kane'

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has revealed that he tried to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane in the summer transfer window.

Following Warnock's return to Selhurst Park at the start of the season, the 66-year-old tried to organise a loan deal with Spurs for the 21-year-old.

However, due to the North London outfit's Europa League campaign, they opted to keep hold of Kane, who has scored 11 times already this season.

"I tried to get him a few times when I came here," Warnock told reporters. "At the time, he was not involved and we felt there was a chance of getting him on loan. But unfortunately they were in that horrible cup on a Thursday night."

Kane joined Tottenham as a youth player in 2009.
