Dele Alli: 'I have learned from my mistakes'

Dele Alli insists that his previous disciplinary issues will not be a problem when England head to the World Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Dele Alli has vowed to continue learning from his mistakes ahead of this month's World Cup finals.

The 22-year-old has missed a string of key matches over the past 12 months due to disciplinary problems, including the Three Lions' win over Slovenia in October and Tottenham's first three Champions League matches.

Alli was banned for the Slovenia clash because of an offensive gesture in the previous win over Slovakia, and he has also previously been penalised for diving offences.

Asked if his short-tempered nature could be a problem in Russia, however, Alli told reporters: "I am a big believer that you have to make mistakes to learn from them. I feel I learned from the things I've done before, but it's not something I worry about at all.

"I feel I've got everything under control. It is not going to be a problem. Obviously, I've done some things before and people seem to think that will be a problem - but it's not."

Alli played 82 minutes of England's 2-1 friendly win against Nigeria on Saturday evening for his 24th senior cap.
