Mark Hughes: 'It's exciting times for Stoke City'

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes predicts "exciting times" for the club after he committed his future to the Premier League side until 2018.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes believes that a "little bit more investment" can help the club mount a stronger push for a European place next season.

Hughes has penned a new deal at the Britannia Stadium until 2018, and the Welshman has insisted that the club aren't too far away from challenging for a place in the top seven of the Premier League table.

The 51-year-old told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have signed a new contract. I think it's exciting times for Stoke City; everyone can see there's more progress to be made and we want to see how far we can take the club.

"I believe that we can do even better next season with a little bit more investment. Let's see how far we can go."

Since joining the club in the summer of 2013, Hughes has won 40 of his 80 games in charge of the Potters.
