Mark Hughes unconcerned with defeat to Arsenal

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes backs his side to improve in their upcoming fixtures after the Potters succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has revealed that he remains unconcerned that his team are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season.

After losing 2-0 to Arsenal on Saturday afternoon, the Potters sit in last place in the standings, but Hughes has insisted that his team will improve in the coming weeks.

The 51-year-old told BBC Sport: "We wanted to make it difficult for Arsenal and get good numbers of bodies around the ball and try to condense play because we know they are very good in wide areas where they look to overload you and look for one-twos around your box.

"Unfortunately our defensive play was a bit too passive in terms of getting out to affect what Arsenal were trying to do, especially in the first half.

"The sharpness I was looking for in our play wasn't there, and you need that when you come here. But we will get better, we are a good team and we have got some good individuals and good talent so we will be fine."

Stoke will look to end their winless streak when they host Leicester City at the Britannia Stadium next weekend.
