Stoke City midfielder Matthew Lund extends his loan spell with League Two outfit Southend United until the end of the season.

Stoke City midfielder Matthew Lund has admitted his delight after extending his loan spell with League Two outfit Southend United.

The 22-year-old's initial loan spell expired last weekend, but he will now remain at Roots Hall for the remainder of the season.

"I've really enjoyed my time at the club so far so I am pleased to be staying here for longer," Lund told the club's official website.

"The lads have been excellent and there's some big games coming up. Hopefully I can play a helping hand in pushing us back into the playoff places."

Southend currently occupy eighth spot in the League Two table.
