Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has refused to comment on speculation linking the club with a move for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.
The Potters are thought to be looking at centre-forward options during the January transfer window, with Peter Crouch being tipped to leave the Britannia Stadium this month.
Berahino, who was in high demand from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer, is understood to be on Stoke's shopping list having not started any of West Brom's last 10 games, but Hughes would not be drawn on whether there was substance to that link.
"I can't really comment on players at other clubs," Hughes told reporters.
"We have an interest in a number and if we are in a position to progress deals we'll try to do that."
Stoke have often played with Bojan Krkic as their furthest man forward in a false nine formation this season.
