Stoke boss Tony Pulis claims that Ryan Shawcross will sign a new contract with the club before Christmas.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has revealed that captain Ryan Shawcross is likely to sign a new contract with the club before Christmas.

The defender, who has 18 months left on his current deal, has been linked with a move away from the Britannia Stadium.

When asked if the terms would be agreed by the end of the month, Pulis said: "It will be done before then, I think.

"We have to make sure both parties are happy about it and there are little things we have to iron out. It's not far away."

Shawcross joined the Potters from Manchester United in 2008.
