Stoke City striker Peter Crouch believes that teammate Ryan Shawcross will be a vital member of the England set-up.
The centre-back was called into the senior squad following the international retirement of Chelsea skipper John Terry.
"Everyone here is buzzing for Ryan," the Daily Star quotes Crouch as saying. "People have been talking about him for England for a number of years now.
"He has been so consistent. Hopefully he will get a chance because, if he does, he won't let anyone down. I have played with him for a couple of seasons now and he has all the attributes to be a top defender."
Crouch was once again overlooked for the Three Lions, who are due to face San Marino and Poland in their 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
