Ricky Alvarez eagerly anticipating FA Cup bow

Sunderland winger Ricky Alvarez admits that he is eagerly anticipating playing his first game in the FA Cup when his side take on Leeds United in the third round.

Sunderland winger Ricky Alvarez has revealed that he can't wait to make his bow in the FA Cup in his side's third-round clash against Leeds United.

The Argentine is expected to start for the Black Cats against Neil Redfearn's men at the Stadium of Light, in what will be his first appearance in the competition after joining the club from Inter Milan in August.

Alvarez told the club's official website: "It is an incredibly historical competition both here in the UK and around the world, so it will be special to be able to play in it especially for me because it is my first chance to do so.

"This is the first time I have had to play so many games in such a short space of time with the fixtures coming thick and fast, but I hope that we will be able to pick up a positive result and progress to the next round of the competition.

"It will be a great game to play in and a game that we will do our best to win."

The 26-year-old has made eight appearances this season, but has failed to find the net for Gus Poyet's side.
